What is Workslop?

Workslop is a new term that means low-quality work created by artificial intelligence (AI) that looks good but doesn’t actually help get the job done.

The word combines “work” and “slop” (like a sloppy mess). It often shows up in emails, documents, or reports and wastes people’s time. This kind of content can make someone seem productive while actually being unhelpful.

It often comes from AI tools being used carelessly or without enough human thinking. Overuse of workslop can hurt how coworkers see each other’s intelligence and trustworthiness.

To explain this to a child, tell them that sometimes people use smart computer tools (like AI) to help them with their work. But if they don’t check the computer’s answers carefully, the work might look okay on the outside but be wrong or useless. That’s called “workslop.”

It’s like writing a school project by quickly copying from a book without really understanding what it says. The page might look full and neat, but it doesn’t show you learned anything or answered the question properly. “Workslop” looks like real effort, but doesn’t really do the job.
